ABOUT PRODUCTID 42913
The IKEA LÖVBACKEN coffee table is a contemporary interpretation of the iconic LÖVET model from 1953, originally designed by Gillis Lundgren for the Swedish brand IKEA. Its distinctive, leaf-shaped tabletop is finished with a medium-toned wood veneer, emphasizing the organic inspiration behind the design. A subtle herringbone pattern across the surface, combined with a matte to satin finish, lends a sense of refinement. The tabletop is edged in black, creating a modern contrast that references mid-century modern aesthetics. The table stands on three slender, tapered legs in deep matte black, each capped with a small brass detail—a nod to the elegance of 1950s design. The proportions are carefully considered: the tabletop appears to float above the minimalist frame, creating a harmonious and functional silhouette. The condition is very good, with only minor, superficial scratches typical of gentle use.Within this table is the spirit of postwar optimism and Swedish pragmatism of the 1950s, when designer Gillis Lundgren infused everyday objects with forms that were both accessible and graceful. The organic, slightly asymmetrical top seems to tell the story of relaxed domestic moments—afternoon coffee, informal gatherings, and quiet pauses. Brass accents and the fine veneer pattern evoke a time when every element in the home had meaning and reflected a desire for simplicity without sacrificing sophistication. The LÖVBACKEN table fits beautifully in mid-century modern interiors, but it can also be paired with contemporary, minimalist sofas or upholstered armchairs in neutral shades. Placing it against a light wall or
