ABOUT PRODUCTID 16632
This large Art Deco jardinière was produced by Huta J. Stolle 'Niemen' in Poland between 1926 and 1939, exemplifying the expressive glass craft of the interwar period. Crafted from pressed glass in a pale, cool heather-violet shade, it balances glossy surfaces with softly frosted exterior sections. Sharp, geometric faceting radiates fan-like from the central axis towards the sides—a classic Art Deco motif—while the rim is sculpted into a pronounced zigzag, giving the bowl a dynamic, architectural emphasis. The body is thick-walled with evenly disposed ribs and vertical facets, highlighting period-typical symmetry and skillful execution. The base is hand-ground with a flat polish. The piece is preserved in excellent, collector’s condition, free from visible wear, chips, or signs of restoration. This jardinière quietly echoes the spirit of Polish Art Deco—a time when glass dared to compete with ceramics and metal as the most progressive decorative medium. Geometric motifs and refined contrasts of sheen and matte unfold like a story of 1930s symmetry and exuberance, rendering even functional objects as a form of miniature architecture. The heather-toned glass, alternating between luminous and subdued, plays with light in a way that evokes the fleeting calm between day’s brightness and the subtle shadow of late afternoon.
