This hand-blown glass jug from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries is a refined example of tableware craftsmanship, attributed to the Josephinenhütte glassworks, a renowned center of glassmaking in what was then Germany. Measuring 6 cm in height, 5 cm in width, and 7 cm in length, the vessel is crafted from raspberry-pink glass with high transparency, giving it a luminous, jewel-like quality. The bulbous body gently flares into a slender neck and a distinct pouring spout, while the arched handle is attached by hand. Decorative gilding—a reflective rim and a fully gilded handle—subtly accentuates the silhouette and age of the piece. The base is finely ground, a hallmark of premium glassware from this era. The condition is very good; natural wear to the gilding on the handle is visible, serving as an authentic trace of use and passage of time.The jug’s form evokes the spirit of the fin de siècle—a period when the finest European tables were graced with Art Nouveau and classical glassware.
