ABOUT PRODUCTID 15496
The Häpen valet stand from 1988, attributed to Ehlén Johansson for Ikea, represents an experimental approach to late 20th-century Scandinavian modernism. Constructed from black-painted steel, the design features slender rods shaped into the stylized outline of a male torso and legs — an airy, sculptural silhouette reminiscent of a three-dimensional contour drawing. At the top sits a single spherical knob in warm, amber-toned wood, serving as both a functional hook for garments and a contrasting material accent. The piece stands on a circular steel base with radiating supports, ensuring stability while emphasizing its tall, slender proportions (height 193 cm, width 43 cm, depth 39 cm). The piece is defined by softly rounded corners, meticulous welded joints, and a matte to semi-matte steel finish free of glare. The negative space within the outline visually lightens the form, letting it recede or stand out depending on the space. With only minimal traces of age-appropriate use, and all original components present, the stand remains in very good vintage condition, with no deformities or stains
