The Alcove Verde wall sconce, designed by Violaine d'Harcourt, is a minimalist wall fixture handcrafted in Portugal from ceramic. The rectangular form, measuring 33 × 12 × 7 cm, is defined by a deep, forest green hue and a glossy, highly reflective glaze that enhances its sculptural presence. Its softly contoured alcove references architectural niches, while the elongated bulb mounted on a small white base creates a striking color contrast. Precise edges and a uniform, smooth ceramic surface reinforce a sense of clarity and cohesion, reflecting a contemporary modernist spirit with a subtle nod to mid-century aesthetics. The sconce communicates calm and focus—its clean lines and rich green recall the quietude of architectural interiors where light is treated as substance. The glaze’s reflections add visual depth, while the softly rounded alcove evokes intimacy and restraint. The piece maintains a balance between function and artistic detail, suggesting timelessness and visual discipline. Alcove Verde can be used in a living room or bedroom, serving as a luminous accent against a light or grey wall. It pairs well with furnishings of simple form, such as a low console in light wood or marble, and can be complemented by metallic details that highlight the ceramic’s gloss. This type of lighting gains presence when accompanied by textiles in natural textures—linen, wool, or cotton in muted tones. The sconce may be combined with other minimalist fixtures or stand alone as a distinct focal point within a composition.
