ABOUT PRODUCTID 28970
This handwoven Anatolian rug from the 1970s exemplifies the region’s traditional craftsmanship, where a rich color palette and geometric design reflect nomadic influences. Made entirely in Turkey from high-quality wool—both pile and foundation—the rug has a solid, compact structure and a matte surface with a slightly coarse texture. Its central field features a bold geometric medallion, with colors such as dusty rose, pale blue, olive green, beige, mustard yellow, and burgundy blending seamlessly. The wide border is densely decorated with stylized crosses and hooked motifs, characteristic of Anatolian tribal weavings. The proportions (114 × 190 cm with fringes) are accentuated by hand-knotted edges. The knot density is approximately 250,000 knots per square meter, and the thickness is around 10 mm. The rug is in good condition, with subtle signs of use typical for the 1970s, and no significant damage or repairs. The pattern and palette of this rug tell the story of Anatolian nomadic workshops, where each color and motif carried symbolic weight.
