The ‘Aniołek’ vase, designed by Stefan Sadowski for Huta Sudety in the 1970s, exemplifies Polish mid-century modern glasswork. Rendered in glass infused with a warm, saturated shade of orange that subtly shifts into a deeper amber at the vessel’s tapering points, its highly glossy and flawlessly smooth surface amplifies the vibrancy and clarity of the material. The shape echoes an hourglass or a stylized angel, with a wide, stable base, a pronounced bulbous central section and an elongated, slender neck. Free from patterns or surface décor, the design focuses exclusively on the nuanced color gradients and harmonious proportions of the glass itself. The vase remains in very good condition, with no signs of damage, chips, or visible repair, preserving the artisanal character of its age.Its sculptural form speaks of the 1970s, when Polish utilitarian glass explored new forms of expression, favoring honest silhouettes and bold colors over excessive ornamentation.
