ABOUT PRODUCTID 17102
This porcelain jar inscribed with 'Aloes' was produced in the 1960s by the Bavarian manufacturer Jacob Hertel in Germany. Its silhouette is inspired by classic apothecary vessels: a balanced, cylindrical form 15 cm high and 9 cm in diameter, covered in a slightly creamy, glossy white glaze typical of fine porcelain. Both the base and the rim of the lid are encircled by wide gilded bands, while the lid is topped with a lustrous gold finial. The ornamented front carries a rococo-inspired, eclectic cartouche with curvilinear motifs in deep green, warm red, and gold, framing the central 'ALOES' inscription in a stylized green font. The form, decoration, and color palette evoke pharmacy jars from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with precise, multi-colored detailing and a well-balanced, symmetrical composition. The porcelain is smooth and finely made; the gold decoration is intact, with no visible wear or restoration. The lid fits securely, and overall craftsmanship reflects the standards characteristic of Southern German porcelain. The piece remains in good condition with no signs of damage. This jar conjures the atmosphere of historic pharmacies, where the beauty of everyday objects reflected a sense of trust, order, and enduring craft. Golden details and an expertly stylized inscription tell of a time when ceramics were as much signposts of culture as containers for precious ingredients. Its gleaming surface catches the light like a fragment from a Jugendstil interior, reverberating with the discreet charm typical of Bavarian manufacture
