This Art Nouveau appetizer cabaret, dating from around 1900 and likely originating from Austria, is a testament to early 20th-century craftsmanship. The construction features a round tray made of warm, golden bronze with a satin-sheen finish, supported by four spherical feet. The high, arched handle is ribbed and subtly flared at the base for added stability and ease of carrying. The tray’s edge is adorned with a pierced frieze of repeating vertical bars and circles, characteristic of Art Nouveau ornamental style. The insert consists of four sections of clear, faceted crystal glass, each precisely cut and fitted snugly within the bronze frame. Materials include bronze (with a satin to semi-gloss finish) and clear, polished crystal glass. The well-fitted joints show no signs of repair, with all elements appearing original and undamaged. Condition is very good, with a light patina on the bronze that enhances its antique character. This cabaret seems to echo the spirit of the Secessionist era—a period when even functional objects embraced sensuous curves and decorative detail.
