ABOUT PRODUCTID 1927
This architectural lithograph from 1881 was created in Berlin, executed in color lithography on paper measuring 32 × 22 cm. The work originates from a portfolio intended for architects, featuring a collection of motifs and architectural designs, and bears the publication date, issue number, and the draughtsman's name in the margin. The subject is the decorative wall of a dining room in the villa of Lajenky in Warsaw, rendered in the style of late historicism with strong neoclassical influences. The composition is defined by harmonious proportions: vertical columns, horizontal friezes, and symmetry. Rich botanical motifs, gilded ornaments, a central fireplace, and ornate candelabras highlight the wealth of detail. The color palette includes warm beige, gold, olive green, browns, and deep red curtains. The print is mounted on a cream passe-partout, enclosed in a satin gold frame behind glass, with an overall size of 48 × 40 cm. Both the lithograph and its framing are in excellent condition – no visible wear, discoloration, or damage. The piece resonates with the spirit of the late 19th century: a sense of dignity and a devotion to detail that defined the historicist era. Each line and ornament seems to narrate a time when architecture was not only functional but also an expression of artistic ambition and social prestige. Subtle light on the matte surface reveals the softness of the colors, inviting close observation—as if the artwork encourages viewers to uncover the layered stories
