ABOUT PRODUCTID 5466
Designed by Jindřich Halabala in the 1930s, this armchair exemplifies Czech Art Deco, where geometric discipline meets the gentle softness of organic forms. The structure is supported by sturdy, straight legs in dark-stained oak, emphasizing the solidity of the piece. Elegantly curved armrests, crafted from the same wood with a satin sheen, create a striking contrast with the lighter upholstery, giving the armchair a distinct rhythm of lines. The seat and backrest are upholstered in a warm, golden ochre boucle fabric, whose pronounced, nubby texture enhances visual depth and tactile comfort. The edges are outlined with a light, contrasting piping, subtly defining the contours of the chair. Dimensions: height 80 cm, seat height 36 cm, width 65 cm, depth 82 cm. Condition: professionally restored, with no visible signs of wear – both wood and upholstery appear authentic and freshly renewed. In this armchair, one hears the voice of a modernizing 1930s Europe: the soft curve of the armrest recalls the elegance of pre-war cafés, while the matte boucle fabric evokes the touch of everyday comfort. This is a piece that tells of a longing for harmony between function and ornament – as if whispering stories of Prague interiors filled with light and geometric motifs. The golden hue of the textile and subtle finishing details reflect a craftsman's attention to detail
