ABOUT PRODUCTID 28360
The FD-109 armchair, designed by Ole Wanscher for the Danish manufacturer France & Daverkosen in the 1950s, stands as a refined example of Scandinavian modernism rooted in craft tradition. Its structure is built from solid beech wood, stained in a warm teak tone with a satin finish that gently highlights the natural wood grain. Distinctively splayed legs and slender armrests flow into an open, gently reclining backrest—together forming an organic, balanced silhouette. The upholstery, in a medium grey hue, is crafted from high-quality, matte fabric that fits the frame snugly and smoothly. The chair retains its original spring basket construction, newly upholstered for contemporary comfort. Joinery is precise and discreet, with no visible screws or hardware, underscoring the emphasis on craftsmanship. The chair is in very good vintage condition, showing only minimal traces of use typical for authentic mid-century pieces. This armchair speaks of the 1950s, when Danish modernism sought harmony between function and form. Its shape seems to echo the era’s voice, where simplicity met organic softness: the warm wood tone conjures the calm of domestic interiors, while the grey upholstery reflects the restraint of a Scandinavian palette. The contoured seat and back invite moments of repose, as if the design steps aside to let the user take center stage. FD-109 carries an air of Nordic balance, where detail and proportion hold
