ABOUT PRODUCTID 12858
The GFM-142 armchair, designed by Edmund Homa in Poland during the 1970s, is a refined example of mid-century modern aesthetics. Its construction features slender, solid wood legs and gently curved armrests finished in a deep, semi-gloss dark lacquer that highlights the natural wood grain. The subtle tapering of the armrests and legs, characteristic of the era, lends an understated elegance to the form. The chair is upholstered in a matte, structural fabric from the Boston series, rendered in a cool turquoise-green shade with a soft, tactile texture. Balanced proportions – a low seat, wide backrest, and thoughtfully contoured profile – provide comfort and visual harmony. Meticulous craftsmanship is evident in the seamless joints and smooth surfaces. The piece is in excellent condition, displaying no signs of wear or prior restoration, and retains its authentic character while appearing freshly renewed. This armchair echoes the story of Polish modernism at the turn of the 1960s and 70s, when function met lightness of form. Its softly flowing lines invite moments of repose, while the deep sea-green upholstery conjures the calm domestic interiors of the period. The interplay of cool fabric and warm wood embodies the spirit of the age – a search for balance between modernity and natural materials. The chair seems to whisper:
