ABOUT PRODUCTID 4863
This armchair, designed by Michael Thonet and crafted in Austria at the end of the 19th century, exemplifies the classic bentwood furniture of the Art Nouveau era. The frame is made from steam-bent beechwood, forming fluid, continuous curves in the backrest and elegantly shaped armrests. Both the seat and oval backrest are upholstered in the original light olive-green fabric, featuring a repeating geometric wave motif and finished with decorative brass upholstery tacks along the back. The structure is finished in a deep, glossy burgundy, while gently splayed legs are joined by a circular stretcher for added stability. The chair offers a generous seat (50 × 50 cm) and high back support, with armrests designed for comfortable repose. Condition: good, with minor scratches, scuffs, and wood infill repairs typical for its age; original upholstery
