The H221 armchair, designed by Jindřich Halabala for UP Závody in the 1930s, exemplifies Bauhaus-inspired modernist functionalism. The armrests are crafted from medium-brown wood with pronounced grain and a satin finish, introducing warmth against the cool steel. Upholstery is made of natural cowhide leather with hair in a 'salt and pepper' colorway—an organic blend of black, white, and grey tones with a visibly textured, slightly coarse surface. The seat and backrest are generously padded; subtle horizontal stitching divides the backrest into geometric segments. Exposed screws and wooden caps at the armrest joints highlight the artisanal detail and authenticity of the piece.
