Model 53 is a design by Jaroslav Šmídek, produced by TON in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s. The chair features a sturdy frame of bent beech wood: the armrests and legs form smooth, flowing lines that highlight the rhythmic character of mid-century modern style. The seat and backrest are generously padded and upholstered in a light, cool-toned grey fabric with a subtle, slightly textured weave and a matte finish.
