The RM58 Matte armchair, designed by Roman Modzelewski in 1958, is a contemporary reedition of a Polish modernist icon. The shell, crafted from mass-dyed polyurethane composite using rotomoulding, features a uniform, deeply matte surface free from visible joints. Its closed, sculptural form is defined by flowing, rounded lines and a wide, integrated seat with armrests. Four slender, slightly splayed steel legs, powder-coated in deep matte black and finished with small, rounded feet, offer subtle visual balance and stability. The proportions are carefully calibrated, emphasizing both ergonomic comfort and visual clarity. The use of durable materials allows for placement in sheltered outdoor spaces such as terraces or verandas.The visual language of the RM58 Matte blends boldness with restraint: the shell evokes an organic capsule, enveloping the user in a single, continuous contour. The matte black finish absorbs light, accentuating the depth of the form and imparting a graphic, almost abstract quality.
