ABOUT PRODUCTID 41461
This silver-plated basket, designed by Julia Keilowa for the Bracia Henneberg manufactory in Warsaw in the 1930s, exemplifies the refined modernism and Art Deco style of Polish metalwork. Crafted from brass plated with silver, the piece features a harmonious, streamlined form accentuated by a semicircular, movable handle with a geometric, modernist profile. The subtly matte surface is adorned with a sophisticated patina and a detailed, high-relief motif of hop cones and leaves that encircle the entire vessel. The interior is gilded, offering a warm, glossy golden tone that elegantly contrasts with the cool silver exterior. With dimensions of 16 cm in height (with the handle), 21 cm in length, and 15 cm in width, the piece is carefully proportioned, and its slightly flared, solid base ensures stability. The underside bears the original "Bracia Henneberg Warszawa" hallmark. The condition is described as very good: the basket retains an authentic patina and minor, age-appropriate wear, with no visible damage or restoration. The form of this object tells the story of Polish modernism—a voice from an era when functionality met decoration and artistic discipline was fused with innovative material use. Julia Keilowa’s basket speaks in pure lines and subtle reflections, as light dances across the silver-plated surface and gilded interior, evoking a fragment of a pre-war Warsaw salon in a contemporary setting. The botanical hop motif—a hallmark of interwar ornamentation
