ABOUT PRODUCTID 12441
This sugar spoon was crafted in the 1930s in Poland by the distinguished Norblin manufactory, using silver-plated brass. The bowl is shaped as a stylised shell, with pronounced, radiating ridges adding a sense of structural depth. The handle displays floral ornaments and flowing Art Nouveau-inspired scrolls, which are typical of the late Art Deco to early Secessionist period. Finished in a satin-matte sheen, the surface subtly picks up the light, highlighting engraved and relief details. A gentle patina and areas of light tarnish reveal both age and distinguished pedigree—surface shows only minor, consistent traces of use and no significant dents or deformations. The overall condition can be described as very good—the spoon retains its original form and finish. This is an object that could narrate its own vignette of interwar Poland: an era when formal tableware began acquiring fresh character—dignified, yet subtly redefined by the metalworker's precision at Norblin’s workshops, reflecting the shift towards elegant simplicity and measured ornament. The shell-shaped bowl and botanical reliefs recall the daily ritual of sweetening coffee, offered with careful artistry and rooted in layered traditions. The restrained gleam of silver plate seems to whisper of calm mornings and gestures of hospitality from a world now past.Such a spoon could complement a period sugar bowl, or provide a well-chosen accent amidst contemporary tableware—the juxtaposition with plain porcelain highlights the quality of historic craftsmanship. In interiors hinting at Art Deco, it would harmonise with cut crystal or silver-plated trays, while in a more eclectic collector’s setting, it might be paired with austere glassware or ceramics
