ABOUT PRODUCTID 13986
This Art Deco crystal vase, handcrafted in the 1930s at the renowned Moser manufactory in the Karlovy Vary region of Czechoslovakia, is sculpted entirely from alexandrite crystal glass. The material is known for its remarkable color-changing effect under varying light: a cool celadon shade emerges in colder, artificial light, shifting to a subtle violet hue in natural daylight. The upper portion is richly adorned with dense diamond cutting that disperses light into a lively spectrum of sparkling reflections, while the lower area features long, vertical cuts that extend and accentuate the vase’s tall, slender proportions. The crystal’s surface is highly polished and tactilely smooth, without visible seams or mold lines; all faceting is crisp, and the rim and base are flawless, free from chips or traces of restoration. The vase remains unsigned, consistent with Moser’s period production norms. The overall condition is very good — with no signs of wear, entirely original. The vase tells the story of luxury functionalism from the interwar period, when modern geometric order intertwined with the ornamental brilliance of fine crystal. Alexandrite glass becomes a subtle chameleon, shifting from a cool green to pale lilac depending on the light, echoing the ambiance of a time when reflected light on cut glass created almost theatrical scenes in daily life. The geometric rhythm of the cutting and the softness of the silhouette channel the refined mood of a 1930s salon, where each artifact spoke to a culture of deliberate elegance. The vase may be displayed prominently on a classic hardwood sideboard or a minimalist modern console—either as a solitary focal point or alongside other period glassware.
