This Art Deco vase, designed by Josef Hoffmann for the Moser workshop in Karlovy Vary during the 1930s, is crafted from alexandrite glass with high optical clarity. The faceted body features an octagonal plan at both the rim and base, divided horizontally into three distinct bands that lend the piece a monumental, architectural presence—characteristic of sophisticated Art Deco glassmaking from the interwar period. The perfectly smooth, high-gloss surface is accentuated by deep vertical cuts that dramatize the interplay of light and shadow across the solid crystal form. A hallmark of alexandrite glass, the vase displays a striking color shift: under daylight, it appears violet; under cooler artificial light, the shade turns celadon or turquoise.
