ABOUT PRODUCTID 13402
This unique uranium glass vase was crafted in the 1930s in former Czechoslovakia, most likely by the distinguished Moser glassworks, a hallmark of European glass artistry. The form draws directly from key Art Deco motifs: a geometric, hourglass silhouette with pronounced beveled edges flaring at the top and base, and a narrower constricted center. Vertical, sharply-cut facets encircle the entire body, amplifying its inherent symmetry and giving the object an architectural, sculptural quality. The glass is thick, relatively heavy, with a pronounced gloss and silky smoothness; its signature translucent yellow-green hue results from uranium content, typical of exclusive early 20th-century glassware. No additional ornamentation nor metal fittings distract from the purity of the form. The overall condition is very good, with no visible chips or signs of intensive use. This vase traces the voice of the interwar avant-garde, where light and color were the raw materials of modernist design – a fragment of scientific optimism distilled into functional art. Under UV light, the uranium glass reveals a luminous fluorescence, invoking an era where artistic prowess and chemistry shared the spotlight. Each crisp facet recalls evenings in modernist salons, steeped in shadows and glitter, where even everyday objects became miniature declarations of style.Such a vase could be paired with the clean lines of period Deco furnishings or contemporary matte surfaces – its vibrant hue will always take center stage in the composition. It would work well atop a graphite sideboard alongside ceramic geometrics, as a solo accent
