This vase, dating from the 1930s and attributed to Rudolf Schrotter for the Inwald Glassworks in former Czechoslovakia, exemplifies mature Central European Art Deco glassmaking. Crafted from semi-translucent, amethyst violet glass colored in the mass, it draws attention with its smooth, elongated silhouette and an elegant waist-defining constriction. Repeated, rhythmically embossed oval motifs and deep vertical grooves emphasize the design’s geometric precision, giving the vessel both structured rhythm and sculptural depth. The vase’s thick walls—particularly pronounced at its solid, faceted base—provide significant weight and grounding, characteristic of interwar decorative glass. Its glossy, clear surface intensifies light reflections, while the absence of visible seams or flaws stands as a testament to the high craftsmanship of the Inwald Glassworks. Preserved in very good vintage condition, the piece shows only minimal signs of age, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The vase’s form evokes the modernist spirit of the 1930s, when architecture and design simultaneously drew inspiration from technological optimism and the decorative restraint of Art Deco.
