This Art Deco crystal vase was created by the renowned Moser manufactory in Karlovy Vary during the 1950s, based on a design by Joseph Hoffmann – a key figure in twentieth-century Central European architecture and design. Crafted from transparent, faceted crystal in a cool lemon-amber tone, the vase features a vertical array of pronounced oval indentations, rendering a geometric and tactile motif typical of the Art Deco movement. Within its form, one discerns both an intellectual rigor and a release of hopeful energy characteristic of the era’s optimism. As the glass splinters the light into countless reflections, the vase evokes the story of urban elegance and renewal that pervaded the Central European interiors of the mid-twentieth century. In an interior, this vase would perform beautifully as a centerpiece on a low walnut table or a
