This hand-blown art glass ashtray, attributed to Josef Rozinek for Novy Bor, was created in the 1960s in the Czech Republic. Its biomorphic, asymmetrical form reflects the spirit of mid-century modern and Bohemian studio glass design from Central Europe. The heavy, thick glass serves as a base for smooth color gradations: from warm amber at the center, through tonal shifts of orange and red, to an accent of emerald green at the base. All of these layers are enveloped by a perfectly clear glass casing, creating a depth and dimensional effect. There are no visible seams, and the smoothly polished base is evidence of high craftsmanship from Novy Bor. The finish is highly polished, glossy, and smooth, capturing and reflecting light while emphasizing the vibrancy of the internal colors. The ashtray remains in excellent vintage condition, with only minimal traces of time typical for glass pieces from this period. The glass speaks in the language of the sixties, when Czechoslovak design sought dialogue between skilled artistry and the freedom of form.
