ABOUT PRODUCTID 15843
This art glass basket, designed by František Zemek for Sklarna Mstisov in the 1960s, exemplifies the craftsmanship of Czech mid-century glassmaking. Hand-blown from thick, high-quality glass, the piece features fluid, organic curves characteristic of Bohemian artistry of the era. The main body displays a warm palette of amber and honey tones, gradually transitioning into clarity and culminating in deep cobalt blue accents at the top of the arched handles. Its faceted base offers both sculptural richness and stability. A glossy, polished surface amplifies the interplay of light and enhances the bold color transitions. There are no visible seams or joins—every detail attests to a high standard of artisanal glassblowing. The basket is preserved in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or significant scratches, only minimal wear consistent with its age. This basket tells the story of the spirited 1960s, when Czech glass broke free of convention and explored new boundaries of light and color. The form suggests a flowing wave or the impression of movement—like a golden stream captured momentarily in glass, inviting appreciation of both line and hue. The color transitions respond to their surroundings, catching and reflecting ambient light in soft highlights.
