ABOUT PRODUCTID 36809
This artistic glass vase from the Mstišov Glassworks in Nový Bor, Czechoslovakia, represents mid-century modern experimentation from the 1950s and 60s. Hand-formed from thick, layered glass, the vase features a clear, transparent body with a vivid emerald green accent at the base, which gradually transitions into the main form. The upper rim displays warm amber and soft pink hues, blending smoothly into a gentle gradient. Its glossy, highly polished surface accentuates the visual depth of the glass, while the asymmetrical, flowing contours reveal the unique result of hand-crafting. The base is expertly ground flat. The piece is preserved in very good condition, with no visible chips, cracks, or damage, and shows only minimal signs of age. This vase carries the spirit of post-war optimism and artistic exploration that defined Czechoslovakian glassmaking in the 1960s. Its organic lines, captured by the movement of skilled hands in molten glass, speak of a time when color and form were tools of creative liberation. The interplay of transparency, thickness, and layered color evokes sunlight filtered through colored glass on a summer afternoon—a dialogue between nature and modernity written in glass. The vase can be used as a standalone accent on an oak console or low shelf, where its reflective surface will catch natural light. It would work well among mid-century modern furnishings, alongside ceramics or geometric prints, to highlight its organic lines. In a collector’s arrangement, it could be paired with other examples of Czechoslovakian glass or set against a neutral wall to fully showcase its play of color and glass depth.Height: 20
