This Art Nouveau appetizer tray, produced by the German manufacturer Orivit at the beginning of the 20th century, is crafted from pewter or another fine white metal. Its cool, silvery tone with a matte, satin finish and asymmetrical, undulating form exemplify the period’s embrace of natural motifs. The organically flowing edge and a handle with two rounded openings integrated into the rim complete its harmonic composition. The surface is decorated with finely raised motifs of maple leaves and samaras, rendered with attention to the vein structures and natural textures.
