This Art Nouveau biscuit barrel, produced by Theresienthal Glaswerke in Zwiesel, Bavaria between 1900 and 1905, embodies the craftsmanship of early twentieth-century glassmaking. The body is formed from slightly greenish, transparent, profiled glass, its glossy surface adorned with delicately etched, matte botanical motifs that flow organically around the vessel. Three vivid green glass applications are rhythmically placed, introducing asymmetry characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement. The hardware is crafted from bleached brass; a broad band caps the upper rim, integrating a lid topped with a finely detailed finial. The silvery-toned handle draws attention with its openwork geometric design and gentle curves. The proportions are harmonious: the rounded, subtly tapering body is balanced by the substantial, decorative handle. The overall condition is very good—there are no visible damages, and only a slight patina on the metalwork attests to the piece’s age and authenticity.
