ABOUT PRODUCTID 23252
This Art Nouveau carafe was crafted around 1900 in the Vienna region, embodying the transitional design currents at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The body is made of colorless glass with a subtle warm undertone, its smooth, polished surface providing a refined backdrop for striking decoration. Geometric, diamond-shaped motifs in vivid ruby red enamel are highlighted by delicate white lines, creating a rhythmic and high-contrast pattern. The carafe is fitted with a silver-plated brass mount: a hinged lid and a distinctly angular, geometric handle, both finished in a matte metallic sheen and defined by sharp, modernist lines. Its tall, tapering shape and broad, stable foot emphasize both functionality and the precision of its construction. All components are well-fitted, and the overall condition is very good—there are no chips, cracks, or visible traces of restoration. This piece echoes the spirit of a period when Viennese Secession design was moving away from organic ornamentation towards more geometric and functional forms. The ruby enamel, the regularity of the motif, and the clarity of the metalwork lines capture the precise moment of transition—between the decorative fluidity of Art Nouveau and the emerging restraint of modernism. The carafe seems to whisper stories of Vienna’s salons a century ago, where glass and light combined in sophisticated harmony and every detail served as a statement of craftsmanship and progressive ideals. The carafe can serve as a distinctive accent on a sideboard in the dining room or living area, especially well-suited to settings with dark wood or marble surfaces, or paired with minimalist tableware from the late 19th or early 20th century. It can be combined with clear glass stemware or vessels featuring subtle geometric decoration to highlight its historic character. This piece will find its place not only in collector interiors inspired by Viennese Secession but also in more contemporary spaces,
