This Art Nouveau decanter, produced by Orivit in Cologne around 1900, exemplifies the refined craftsmanship of the Jugendstil movement. The clear, faceted glass body features vertical geometric cuts that play with light, accentuating the vessel's elongated silhouette. The galvanised brass fittings, in a matte silver tone, include a distinctive angular handle with a dynamic lower sweep, a decorative ribbed collar, and a sharply defined spout. The lid is topped with a ribbed, geometric finial, while the rim bears the Orivit signature, catalog number, and 'Germany' inscription, authenticating its provenance. The proportions are elegantly slender: 21 cm in height, 10 cm in length, and 6.3 cm in diameter. The decanter remains in excellent condition—no chips, cracks, or visible signs of wear. The metalwork retains a uniform patina, with no evidence of restoration. The form of this piece tells the story of the turn of the century—a period when Art Nouveau matured toward early modernism.
