ABOUT PRODUCTID 6120
This ceramic dish, produced by the Danish Ipsen manufactory and dating from the 1920s, features harmonious proportions (15 cm diameter, 3 cm height) and the refined craftsmanship characteristic of early Scandinavian modernism. The warm, saturated orange body is finished with a semi-matte glaze, while the rim is highlighted by a deep, dark green border. The central, hand-painted motif depicts a black bird with greenish wings and a brown beak, perched on stylized, flowing branches in tones of green and brown. The dish is signed on the underside, confirming authenticity. The surface is smooth and finely textured, free from damage or signs of wear, with gently sloping sides and a shallow depth lending a sense of delicacy. Condition is very good, with no chips or cracks and the original finish preserved. This piece echoes the voice of Scandinavian Art Nouveau, a period in the early 20th century when nature and fluid, organic forms inspired everyday objects. The delicate bird, poised on its branch, seems captured in a moment of calm, as if telling a story of an era where art and daily life mingled in even the smallest details. The orange glaze and soft finish evoke an atmosphere of vintage parlors and refined afternoon gatherings, where utilitarian objects became small works of art. The dish can be used for serving small fruits, nuts, or sweets, but it also stands alone as a decorative accent on a console or within a display cabinet. It may be paired with other period pieces—1920s glassware or ceramics with natural motifs—to emphasize its historical character.
