ABOUT PRODUCTID 23381
This Art Nouveau wine jug, dating from around 1914, was produced by Legras St Denis Mont Joye in France. The construction features cased, colored glass with a gentle gradient from pale yellow-green at the top to a translucent pink at the base. The body is hand-painted with stylized tulip motifs in shades of red, blue, white, and green, arranged in a dynamic, asymmetrical composition typical of the Art Nouveau period. The handle and hinged lid are crafted from silvery, nickel-plated or bleached brass, finished to a polished gloss. The elegantly curved metal handle recalls the craftsmanship of the Belle Époque. Though functional, the jug tells a story of artistry and daily life intersecting in the refined salons of the early twentieth century. It may be displayed on a console in a dining or living room, where natural light will highlight the gentle sheen of the glass and the vividness of the hand-applied decoration. The jug pairs well with interiors inspired by Art Nouveau—whether among historical furniture or as a focal accent in a contemporary setting. It could
