ABOUT PRODUCTID 12483
This early 20th-century pill box from the Austro-Hungarian Empire exemplifies decorative Art Nouveau, crafted from pressed glass in an intensely saturated cobalt blue with a luminous, glossy finish. Compact and softly rounded, the form combines artisan-made surface details: yellow-gold enamel motifs, arranged in stylised floral and berry patterns typical of early 20th-century Secession trends, encircle the lid and sides. The closure is made from brass, displaying a patina and darkening consistent with age. Most of the enamel remains intact, despite signs of wear. Visible cracks and repair join lines mark the lid, and there are minor abrasions along the edges, highlighting the object’s authentic vintage character. The piece is in a worn state: the upper cover has been reglued after damage and shows cracks and evidence of use. This pill box could recount the refined elegance of imperial Vienna more than a century ago, when everyday objects were transformed into small works of art. The deep cobalt glass, gleaming with light, “speaks” in the language of Art Nouveau: organic patterns unfold as if time paused at the threshold between tradition and modernity. Wear marks and signs of repair evoke a long history of use, suggesting the pill box once sat on a lady’s dressing table or in a household apothecary, witnessing daily rituals and quiet moments.Such an item could serve as a decorative accent on a sideboard or within a curated cabinet—especially surrounded by other period objects, antique jewellery, or glasswork. It would fit seamlessly into
