This Art Nouveau serving tray was produced around 1905 by the renowned WMF manufactory in Germany. Its elliptical form is framed by a gently undulating, scalloped edge, adorned with a fine beaded ornament running along the perimeter. The construction is based on silver-plated metal in a cool, lustrous tone, imparting a refined character typical of early 20th-century design. The central panel is clear glass, beneath which lies a handwoven white lace doily with an intricate, radial floral and geometric pattern. The joints are seamless and precise—the glass section is removable, allowing for easy access or replacement of the doily. The tray bears the WMF maker’s mark on the underside and is preserved in very good condition, with no visible damage or signs of wear.The tray’s form tells the story of an era where artisanal precision met the sensuality of Art Nouveau. The metallic sheen and the lace-like detail of the textile insert speak with the voice of the Belle Époque—a time when even daily objects were given an artistic dimension. The transparent glass reveals the openwork texture as if capturing the softness of morning light in a fleeting moment.
