ABOUT PRODUCTID 12655
This Art Nouveau soup ladle, produced by the Kummer manufactory in Warsaw in the 1920s, is crafted from silver-plated alpacca. The silver plating is almost entirely worn away, revealing the cool, matte grey base metal with an uneven, aged patina. The handle is adorned with flowing, organic lines and subtle geometric accents, characteristic of early twentieth-century Art Nouveau. The silhouette is slender and balanced, featuring a gently curved handle and a deep, round bowl. The surface shows typical signs of age—scratches, discoloration, and rubbing—that highlight its authenticity and history. The construction remains solid, with no visible repairs. Condition: heavily worn but stable, with all original elements preserved. This ladle carries the quiet voice of the interwar period, when Polish craftsmanship sought harmony between function and ornament. The organic motifs seem to flow along the handle like stylized foliage captured in metal, while the matte surface speaks of everyday rituals from a century ago. Its patina and signs of use evoke the memory of family gatherings, preserving the atmosphere of a bygone era.The ladle may be used for serving at vintage-inspired tablescapes or as a collectible accent among early twentieth-century tableware. It pairs well with porcelain featuring geometric or botanical patterns, as well as crystal vases and silver-plated serving pieces. In a contemporary setting, it could be matched with minimalist ceramics and linen tablecloths to create a striking contrast between old and new, emphasizing its decorative presence.
