ABOUT PRODUCTID 12663
This Art Nouveau sugar bowl, crafted in the early 20th century at the German Berndorf manufactory, is distinguished by its sculpted form and carefully selected material. The vessel features a bulbous, rounded brass body, finished with a layer of silver that has developed a softly matte, gently tarnished surface – a testament to its age. The low, oval pedestal supports the central body, complemented by two solid, undulating handles whose stylized, organic motifs evoke animal heads or mythical creatures in true Art Nouveau fashion. The lid is missing. The entire silhouette is free of sharp lines, unified by harmonious curves and understated ornamentation. The functional handles are securely attached, while the surface reveals typical, period-appropriate signs of use: minor scratches, subtle wear, and an authentic patina characteristic of timeworn silver-plated brass. No significant dents or structural issues are noted. The sugar bowl remains in good condition with visible signs of age. This object quietly recalls an era when everyday rituals elevated the ordinary: the silver-plated brass surface speaks of Art Nouveau Europe's ambition to make even utilitarian objects artistic. The handles flow from symbolic animal forms into the vessel’s soft outline, bridging imagination and function in a way wholly typical of the early 20th century. Every faint scratch and accent of tarnish offers a silent chronicle of past gatherings, afternoon teas, and conversation as filtered through the antique glow of bygone parl
