ABOUT PRODUCTID 18462
This Art Nouveau sugar bowl, manufactured at the beginning of the 20th century by the German company DBE (Dupper and Bernhold Alpacca Silver Plated), is crafted from brass with a silver-plated finish. Its structure features a rounded, organically modeled body set on a circular foot, complemented by two slender handles that flow outward in naturalistic, asymmetrical lines. The surface shows a soft, silvery gray with a matte patina, punctuated by glossier highlights on the handles and the raised floral relief elements. A decorative band with plant and flower motifs, characteristic of the Art Nouveau style, encircles the upper body. The sugar bowl carries subtle traces of age and use: gentle rubs reveal the golden brass beneath the silver, accompanied by minor scratches and areas of natural tarnish. The original lid is missing. The construction remains solid, with well-joined handles and the hallmarks of early 20th-century craftsmanship. Condition: good, with authentic patina and signs of age, but no modern intervention or loss of ornamental detail. This sugar bowl vividly reflects the spirit of the early 1900s, when Art Nouveau liberated decorative arts from rigid conventions, allowing metal to be shaped into soft, flowing forms inspired by nature.
