This Art Nouveau sugar bowl, crafted from silver-plated brass, was produced by the German firm DBE (Dupper and Bernhold Alpacca Silver Plated) in the early 20th century. Its construction features a robust, organically shaped body with asymmetrical, fluid lines and handles that harmonize with the vessel’s swelling form—hallmarks of the Art Nouveau movement. The surface is dominated by a cool, aged silver tone accented by delicate golden highlights that emphasize the detailed floral and leaf motifs encircling the bowl. Matte patina is interspersed with muted, soft luster where the metal has seen less handling. There are surface abrasions with some brass showing through where the silver plating has thinned, and small scratches and natural darkening accentuate the relief work. The handles are firmly attached with visible seams, reflecting early 20th-century metalworking techniques. The lid is missing.
