ABOUT PRODUCTID 33473
This ceramic vase, produced by the Danish manufacturer Ipsen in the 1920s, exemplifies Art Nouveau design, where organic lines and nature-inspired motifs merge with fine craftsmanship. Model no. 364 features a harmonious, gently tapering form with rounded shoulders, finished in a semi-matte glaze that transitions from warm ochre-orange to olive green at the base and neck. The surface is adorned with a highly detailed, three-dimensional lizard in deep brown with subtle greenish highlights, climbing up the body, and a raised black spider with brown legs for added visual interest. The sculptural elements are seamlessly integrated into the vessel, and the vase is signed on the base, confirming its authenticity. The condition is very good, with only minor, barely visible chips on the lizard’s tail, consistent with its age.
This vase channels the spirit of the Art Nouveau era, when nature and fantasy infused everyday interiors. The organic lines and precisely sculpted animal motifs evoke a period when utilitarian objects became small works of art. The ochre and green hues, along with the semi-matte finish, impart a sense of softness, while the lizard and spider tell a story of inspiration drawn from the natural world—as if the vase invites one into a realm where detail becomes a vessel for emotion and symbolism.
The vase can be displayed on a light wood sideboard or a marble shelf, where the warm colors
