The General Accident advertising ceramic ashtray is an example of Belgian craftsmanship from the interwar period, produced by Guerin Gres Bouffioulx in the 1930s. Its rectangular form with gently upturned edges embodies the modernist precision and functionalist clarity characteristic of Art Deco. The vivid matte red top surface contrasts with a white border and ceramic base, highlighted by sharp black and white printed elements and a small black emblem. Two integrated, white cigarette rests feature geometric shapes that blend seamlessly into the overall design. The reverse bears a signature confirming authenticity. The ashtray is in very good condition, with minor signs of use typical for its age – slight surface wear and small marks, but no cracks or chips.
