This square crystal ashtray, designed by Alessandro Guerriero for Ritzenhoff in the 1990s, is a hallmark of postmodern design with strong Memphis influences. Crafted from thick, clear crystal with a glossy, highly polished finish, it maintains a sharp, geometric silhouette. The inner base and outer rim are decorated with a vibrant mosaic of saturated color fields: lime green, vivid blue, cherry red, light pink, yellow, white, turquoise, and black rectangles. The ashtray features four cigarette rests, one on each chamfered edge, while the colored pattern forms a continuous, abstract grid wrapping from side to base. A clearly inscribed signature of Guerriero and the manufacturer in one corner authenticates the piece. The smooth surface shows only minimal scratches, characteristic of very well-preserved vintage objects.The ashtray’s form resonates with the playful spirit of the 1990s—a decade marked by a search for freedom through color and geometric experimentation.
