The 'Rhapsody' glass ashtray, attributed to František Zemek for Mstišov, is a representative example of Czech art glass from the 1960s, illustrating the mid-century modern style. Crafted from soda glass, its substantial, thick-walled body features an organic, freeform shape. The base glass remains clear, seamlessly embracing dynamic transitions of color: deep cobalt blue on one side flows into amber yellow at the base and culminates in a saturated emerald green along the opposite rim. The highly polished surface and softly rounded edges accentuate the gloss and depth of color, while the gently upturned lip serves both functional and decorative roles. The glass texture is smooth and even, with minor air bubbles within the mass—a hallmark of hand-crafted Bohemian production.
