The 'Wiosna' ashtray, designed by Franciszek Kalfas for the Ćmielów Porcelain Factory between 1942 and 1944, exemplifies the fusion of utility and sculptural artistry characteristic of early 1940s Polish decorative arts. The form features a cool satin-matte blue concave dish, shifting to a raised, glossy white base, with a central sculptural element: a kneeling young woman in a white dress adorned by delicate, hand-painted blue and red dots, recalling patterns of the late Art Deco era.
