ABOUT PRODUCTID 19551
This pressed soda glass vase, colloquially known as the “baleron” model, was designed by Jan Sylwester Drost for HSG Ząbkowice in Poland in the 1970s. Its deep emerald green color, highly saturated and cool in tone, is paired with a pronounced spiral ribbed pattern that evenly encircles the cylindrical body. The vase’s form is tall and slightly tapered toward the base, with thick walls characteristic of pressed glass of that era. The smooth, rounded rim attests to the attention to detail in production, while the absence of metallic accents or decorative colors creates a strong, clear composition focused on materiality and form. Proportions are well balanced; the glossy surface enhances both the intensity of the hue and the three-dimensionality of the spiral pattern. The vase is preserved in very good condition, with no visible chips, cracks, or restoration, and only minimal traces of use typical for vintage glass. The vessel embodies the modernist spirit of 1970s Polish utilitarian design: the dynamic spiral motif draws the eye and accentuates the depth of green, while the robust materiality recalls an era when color and geometry were celebrated equally. Its glossy, ribbed surface becomes a field where light refracts and moves, inviting a sculptural play that transcends mere function. This is glassware that holds not only water and stems, but also the quiet optimism and authenticity of its time—an unassuming narrator of industrial artistry in everyday life. The “baleron” vase may be displayed solo on a light wooden sideboard, allowing its geometric silhouette
