ABOUT PRODUCTID 28278
This serving cart, designed by Poul Hundevad in the 1960s and produced by the Danish manufacturer Bernstorffsminde Møbelfabrik, is a distilled expression of Scandinavian Modernism. The structure is crafted entirely from solid teak, complemented by two teak-veneered shelves with a gentle satin finish. The upper shelf, framed by a substantial solid wood edge, functions as a removable tray, while the lower shelf is set deeper into the frame, appearing slightly darker due to limited light exposure. Four slender, rounded legs accentuate the piece’s organic and minimalist lines. Joinery is precise and nearly invisible, with only small, discreet metal fittings securing the black plastic casters. The casters provide smooth mobility without interrupting the visual harmony. The proportions are carefully balanced, lending the cart an appearance that is both lightweight and sturdy. The piece is in very good restored condition, with smooth wood surfaces free from visible signs of wear or repair, and all elements remain authentic to the original design. This cart echoes the voice of Danish modernism—where simplicity of form meets a tangible attention to detail and everyday usability. The teak structure gently refracts light, emphasizing a blend of warm browns and subtle reddish notes, as if the wood itself tells stories of long evenings spent around the table. The minimalist silhouette is inviting rather than imposing: the tray top encourages hospitality, while the mobile construction conjures images of gatherings that move effortlessly from living room to dining area.
