Tunsta is a serving trolley designed by Niels Gammelgaard for IKEA in 1999, exemplifying the minimalist and modernist aesthetics of late 20th-century Scandinavian design. The trolley is constructed entirely from stainless steel with a matte silver finish, giving it a distinctly industrial character. Its lightweight frame is formed from tubular metal with rounded corners; three perforated metal shelves, each with evenly spaced circular cutouts, provide both functionality and a sense of visual transparency. The shelves are attached with visible welds, and the entire structure rests on four swiveling plastic casters, also in silver. Its proportions are low and wide, with open sides allowing easy access from any angle. The surface is smooth and matte, showing small scratches and scuffs that are consistent with age and use. Condition: preserved in good state, with natural signs of age and use. Tunsta tells the story of the late 1990s, when Swedish minimalism sought to address everyday needs through maximum simplicity and practicality. Its proportions and clarity of line evoke a sense of rational order, while the perforated shelves create geometric shadows as they filter the light, introducing an industrial rhythm. The trolley seems to whisper: 'everything in its place, nothing superfluous'—a voice of an era when function and form met on a neutral, silver background. This trolley
