ABOUT PRODUCTID 17516
This candlestick, crafted by Norblin’s Warsaw workshops in the latter half of the nineteenth century, exemplifies the baroque-inspired craftsmanship typical of urban plating ateliers from that era. Made from silver-plated brass, the piece rests on a 12-by-12 centimeter square base adorned with intricate repoussé floral ornaments in the rocaille manner. The slender, faceted shaft transitions into a baluster silhouette, decorated with rhythmic reliefs and subtly symmetric floral motifs; the composition is crowned by a candle cup ringed with stylised leaf detailing. The surface exhibits an elegant interplay of gloss and softly matte areas, especially within the deeper ornamental recesses where age and fine patina are visible. It stands 32 centimeters tall. The overall condition is very good, having undergone professional restoration—its surface is even and lustrous with no evidence of damage or deformation; only minor signs of age and careful conservation attest to the piece’s authenticity. Its presence quietly evokes the era in which patina and silvering signified status and decorative richness coexisted with utility. Every relief and polished area reflects the gesture of the nineteenth-century artisan, who deliberately shaped the metal into a refined ornamental object. The play of light and shadow within the baroque motifs suggests glimpses of old salons, where candlelight set the tone for social evenings and family celebrations. Echoes of style and the understated elegance of nineteenth-century Warsaw are palpable in the candlestick’s aura. The Norblin candlestick may be used as a
