A decorative basket from 1950s Germany, crafted from glazed ceramics in the spirit of mid-century modern design, exemplifies the inventive postwar European aesthetic. The exterior features a high-gloss, creamy enamel, overlaid with bold, hand-painted vertical yellow stripes and fine black lines. The basket’s organic, asymmetrical outline narrows at the base and flares gently at the rim, which is softly turned outward. Inside, a glossy terracotta-brown glaze creates a warm counterpoint to the light exterior. The handle, made of natural wicker alternately wrapped with light and dark brown synthetic cord, is attached with small, visible metal rings.
