ABOUT PRODUCTID 12713
This Biedermeier-era vase from Bohemian glassworks, crafted in the 19th century, exemplifies the advanced cased glass technique, where a transparent crystal body is overlain by a deep ruby-red layer. Through intaglio cutting, the outer red glass has been meticulously carved away to reveal clear crystal beneath, producing intricate, rhythmic floral motifs – matte white blossoms, winding stems, and geometric banding. The upper section features bold, beveled geometric cuts accented with saturated red, while the mid and lower zones display elaborate engraving in transparent and white, all set against the vibrant red. The highly polished, faceted surface heightens the interplay of light and reflection, and the base is adorned with alternating scroll designs and vertical fluting. Both the form and decoration are distinctly Biedermeier, reflecting early-to-mid 19th-century Central European artistry with a focus on clear silhouettes and decorative richness. The condition is very good with no visible damage, chips, or modern restoration; the sharpness of engraving and clarity of detail affirms this
